In theatre what do the makeup artists do after- before-during- a play?
Before a performance, the make up artists apply makeup to the actors. The makeup will vary depending on the show/character but can include: fountation, basic traditional makeup, old age makeup, prostetics(fake nose, facial hair), wigs, grease paint, etc
During the show, the makeup artists will assist in makeup for character changes, (eg: for Cats the Musical, an actor plays several different cats with different makeup.) They will also assist with wig changes, reapplying prostetics that fell off due to motion or sweat.
After the show, they will assist in removing prostetics, wigs, etc. They will clean up makeup supplies used during the show and stock up for the next performance.
