Starlight Theater
What kind of place is Atlanta's Starlight drive-in move theatre?
I am visiting Atlanta this weekend & the Starlight Drive-In Movie Theatre sounds fun. But what kind of crowd does it draw? Is it family-friendly? Is it safe? I've never been there so I have no clue. (www.starlightdrivein.com/)

We've been there a number of times and have a great time, every time. First, they show 2 current run movies on every screen, and there's five screens. Second, the concession stand prices are so cheap ($2 hot dogs, hamburgers, cokes, etc) that you won't be sure that you're really at a theater.
And, you can bring a grill & cook-out if you want-they just ask that you finish by the time the movies start. While the local area is pretty rough, we've stopped at several of the local "dives" along the way there to pick-up something on the way...lots of fried chicken, fish & wing type places along Moreland Ave (at least if you're coming off I-20 to get there)...I just wouldn't get off Moreland Ave and you'll be fine.
You can have different crowds at each screen. For example, one might have a kid/family type double-feature; another might have an action film set; another might have a pair of horror films; another could have a combo of Tyler Perry movies. We've never had a problem.
You pick-up sound from your car radio...a different station for each screen, so if your radio doesn't work, make sure you bring a good one with new batteries.
We bring lawn chairs, so if the spot next to us is open, we'll sit there or in front of the car...and blankets to lay across the hood...just like when we were kids!
