Tale of Two Cities Original Broadway Cast?
I just recently saw A Tale of Two cities the musical on Broadway and thought it was absolutely phenomenal! I then picked up the CD they offered to purchase inside the theater, only to discover that the CD i purchased was not the Original Broadway Cast that i just recently viewed!! Songs were in the show that were not on the CD!
I researched it online and found out the only tale of two cities musical CD out there is the one i purchased! That there is NO ORIGINAL CAST RECORDING from the actual show on Broadway.
Can some one please tell me why is that?
The recording you bought was a "concept" recording, which is often made for a show before there is a production in order to give producers a feel for the show's potential. When the recording was made, the current song listing was likely different. During pre-Broadway productions and Broadway previews, songs are often dropped, altered, or added, so that the final song list isn't really set until the show opens. There may be a plan to make a recording of the Broadway cast if the changes were significant enough.
