What makes a good photograph from a photographer?
I am trying to gain knowledge on photography, I am very interested and I would like to know from all of your experienced photographers, what makes a photo work? What makes it spectacular?
Also, when all you have is a camera-- no lighting or backdrops, how do you capture great indoor portaits? What types of props should I use? Any tips are great!
For indoor portraits, you should find a well lit room, preferably with plenty of natural light from a large window. You can make a homemade reflector with white posterboard or a foil wrapped cookie sheet. Also, About.com has a great photography forum that is very supportive and informative with competitions every two weeks and regular critiques (constructive critiques).
